The World Igbo Congress Foundation was formed in 1997 as a 501 (c) 3 organization responsible for the implementation of the aims and objectives of the World Igbo Congress, also a 501 (c) 3 organization in respect of projects (educational, scientific, charitable, economic, agricultural and infrastructural) and fundraising. The specific objectives of the World Igbo Congress are:

  • To unify Ndi-Igbo everywhere.
  • To promote, protect and advance Igbo culture and civilization.
  • To promote progress and development of Igbo land.
  • To promote and cultivate political awareness and civic responsibility among Ndi-Igbo.
  • To promote the advancement and welfare of Ndi-Igbo.
  • To promote harmony and peaceful co-existence with other ethnic groups.
  • To receive, invest and disburse funds, and hold property, for the purpose of the corporation aforesaid.
  • To conduct other activities, not in contravention of the Texas Non-Profit Corporation or Article Six of the Articles of Incorporation, necessary or appropriate to carry out the foregoing purposes.

Membership of World Igbo Congress and its foundation WICF) is open to all Igbo persons through membership in local Igbo community organizations regardless of race, color, creed, or national origin. Members of the general public are also welcome to affiliate with the WICF through becoming partners, sponsors and supporters. The World Igbo Congress Foundation therefore invites all to partner with it in the achievement of the set objectives
